For my EDU 227 Capstone Project, I had the opportunity to act as an instructional designer, exploring a topic of my choice (Universal Design for Learning), and its implementation in my school setting. Working in an international school with a multilingual student body, utilizing digital tools that engage students and ensure equity and accessibility is of utmost importance. To this end, I focused on implementation of instructional design principles in my school, and evaluating instructional technology use.
I interviewed two members of my school community. My focus was to see how implementation of the 5E Model and UDL could help engage students and improve learning outcomes. I utilized instructional design to incorporate the digital tools Nearpod and Mentimenter. Furthermore, I was able to evaluate the use of technology in the lesson by looking at the Triple E evaluation model.
