Summary
Activity: Practice Your Spanish Vocabulary
Original Activity: Using recently learned Spanish vocabulary, students compose a list of ten sentences. There are no interactive or multimedia components, and students must finish the assignment on their own (individually) on paper. The sentences must be grammatically correct.
Redesigned Activity Using UDL Principles
Activity Description: Students will use the new language to create a digital story that focuses on "describing their personal daily routines."
UDL Integration
Multiple Means of Representation: Offer vocabulary in a variety of media, such as paper flashcards, a digital word bank, and a video explanation.
For every vocabulary term, include an illustration or GIF. Include transcripts and closed captions for all content.
Multiple Means of Action and Expression: To show what they have learned, students can make an illustrated comic strip, a presentation, or a brief film.
Various creative outputs are made possible by tools such as Seesaw and Google Slides.
Multiple Means of Engagement: Provide options: Students can explain a celebrity's, fictitious character's, or their own daily routine. By using a shared class padlet to assign peer reviews, you can take advantage of collaboration opportunities.
Digital Tools Integrated in this activity
Seesaw: the purpose of Seesaw is to allow students to create and share multimedia content, such as videos, voice recordings, and images, to demonstrate their learning. Students can record their voice, draw, add photos, or upload videos to showcase their understanding. Teachers can provide feedback directly on student submissions. Include UDL Support by providing multiple means of expression and engagement by allowing students to choose how they demonstrate learning, and it’s accessible on multiple devices, enhancing accessibility for all learners.
Canva is designed to be an easy-to-use platform for both beginners and professionals to create visually engaging content. Its purpose is to present information in creative and visually appealing ways. Canva allows students to visually design comic strips or slideshows, offering flexibility in expressing their understanding. Canva supports UDL by providing visual templates and multimedia options, helping to present information in various formats (text, images, audio, video) to cater to diverse learners. The interactive, creative nature of Canva motivates students, while its collaborative features enable group work, offering choices in how students engage with the material.

Strengths of Redesigned Activity
This activity offers diverse ways to access, process, and demonstrate knowledge, accommodating various learning needs. It engages students and increases motivation through choice, creativity, and collaboration. It promotes accessibility by providing text-to-speech, design templates, and audio-visual integration to meet accessibility needs.
Weaknesses
Needs electronic devices and dependable internet access. Compared to traditional approaches, producing original items may take more time.
Comparatively speaking, the original activity restricted inclusivity and engagement by concentrating only on written work. In line with UDL principles, the revised activity encourages creativity, teamwork, and accessibility while guaranteeing that students of all levels can engage and thrive.
The revised activity, which makes use of the Kirkpatrick Model, not only keeps students interested but also shows enhanced vocabulary application and retention, demonstrating its efficacy as an inclusive teaching method.
