Applying 5E to Enhance Lesson: Making Inferences Using Texts

Summary

The lesson I selected to revise was a lesson I created for EDU 226. The original lesson was written in a format I have used many times when creating lesson plans for school. We don’t have a certain format lesson plans have to be written in. I feel for the original lesson all the teaching components are there for teaching an effective lesson to the students. After revising the lesson using 5E I feel the format makes it easier to address all the necessary parts of the lesson. Using 5E, makes the students more active in their learning. Students are learning by posing, investigating and answering questions.
For the digital tools I integrated into the lesson were Flipgrid and Screencast. Flipgrid will enable students to express themselves through creating a video, text or audio message about the inference they drew from their reading. As for Screencast, I would have recorded myself reading the directions as I pointed to the words and/or use screencast as a model example for students who need additional support to refer back to. Screencasts give students a combined audio-visual learning environment. They are useful to those who learn best through seeing rather than hearing or reading.
