Summary
Reflection:
Overall, I felt that the lesson plans have similar characteristics. When designing these lesson plans day to day I consider that my students have IEPs and additional supports need to be considered when I am teaching these skills. A strength in the original lesson plan is the scaffolding of building on the parts of speech and providing the visual supports. It includes the use of the dry erase boards to keep the students engaged during the session. A weakness in the original lesson plan is it does not include run-on sentences that was incorporated into the second lesson plan. When redesigning the lesson plan, I liked the breakdown and being able to plug in the different parts of my original lesson plan into the 9 events of instruction. Incorporating the use of digital tools enhanced the learning experience and I think finding the site to create jeopardy boards is helpful within the lesson plan. I also think using the song in the beginning will help students remember the parts of speech and promote carry-over. Overall, I think the second lesson is something I want to incorporate into my session to see in real time how the students respond.
