UDL and the Triple E Framework to Redesign a lesson

Summary

The lesson I chose to modify to integrate the UDL principles is part of a unit I plan to teach next year to 5th grade students on the Rube Goldberg Machine. I will use the Triple E framework to evaluate the effectiveness of the lesson. This will help me plan for next year. This lesson/activity is an introduction to who Rube Goldberg is and what he did. Eventually leading to the students creating their own Rube Goldberg machines. The students will engage in several workstations, each station identifying a simple machine used in Goldberg’s creations. For example, levers, pulley, wheel and axle, inclined plane, wedge and a screw. Students will identify how simple machines make work easier for us by allowing us to push or pull over increased distances.
