Guideline for Digital Learning for 9th Grade ICT/ELL Class

This guideline is intended for a 9th-grade ICT class / ELLs class. Using a Universal Design for Learning approach (UDL), the information will be presented using the three overarching guides, engagement, representation, and action and expression. My idea is to have the guidelines done using Canva to display the information, (The “what” of learning), but using different teaching approaches like individual response, small group talk, turn and talk, foster engaging communication, and action and expression. The following is a list of items and proposed ideas on how to present the guidelines for digital learning to my 9th ICT/ELL class. Next to each item, you will find a UDL checkpoint alignment. For students with IEPs, paraprofessionals will be, guiding, mentoring, and using provided graphic (supplemental services) organizers for support.

1- Digital. In our google classroom it will presented and students will be asked to pick one of the guidelines and rephrase it in a way that is most meaningful for them.. Use multiple media for communication (checkpoint5.1)

2- Physical handout where they will share in their small groups (Foster collaboration and community (checkpoint8.3)) and have a discussion on one of the guidelines. Using the second Canva template, students will write their own interpretations of the security and privacy section. Additionally, students will be given an opportunity to do research for extra credit Guide information processing and visualization (checkpoint3.3).

3- Poster. The guidelines will be posted (24″ x 36″) in color both in front and in the back of the classroom. As a do now students will do a turn and talk and ask a question they have on any of the the guidelines from the poster. Optimize individual choice and autonomy (checkpoint7.1)

4- Individual Handout. Given that this is intended for a class of English language learners the Canva guidelines posters will be in different languages (ELL support) for students to have in the resource section of their class binder adhering to additional UDL guidelines, Illustrate through multiple media (checkpoint2.5).
