Guidelines for educating students about Digital Learning

Approach: The purpose of these guidelines is to establish a responsible and positive digital environment in our school. Positive language is used in the instructions to promote proactive and polite behavior. The inclusion of visual cues helps to make the recommendations more memorable and visually appealing. Every guideline comes with a particular question to have students thinking about what they did and didn’t do online.
Rationale: Positive Reinforcement: Having rules in place encourages students to make wise decisions by creating a supportive learning environment.

Clarity: Students can better grasp expectations by following explicit and detailed directions, which eliminates uncertainty and misunderstanding.

Mentorship: Rather than just keeping an eye on students’ behavior, the guidelines are designed to help them build positive digital habits and critical thinking abilities.

Digital Citizenship and Digital Literacy: Students are taught to navigate the digital world ethically and successfully by integrating digital citizenship (e.g., kindness, preserving personal information) with digital literacy (e.g., citing sources, using credible information).

These guidelines aim to empower students to use digital tools thoughtfully and respectfully, preparing them for both academic success and responsible digital citizenship.
