Summary

Teaching and learning in this new digital age is a growing phenomenon. It doesn’t matter how you define Digital Learning, because there are many ways. Remember, the point of Digital Learning is to empower learners with a personalized, flexing, learning experience where innovation is the goal. Redesigned Lesson Plan for Guidelines for Digital Learning

DIGITAL LEARNING

“(Edtech) Education Technology the future generation in Instructional Technology while integrating digital tools”

Instructional Technology offers an enormous advantage to learners in all genres. When used with digital tools it takes learning to another level. A level where students are engaged in their own collaborative learning experiences.

We have come to a time where learning is on the learner, with a wealth of information literally at your finger tips. Digital learning in Education takes place on a computer, laptop, tablet, or smart phone anywhere you want to Teach or learn. Digital learning is important in today’s Education system, because it offers multiple means of educating learners, equity and accessibility. Accessibility is a crucial component in educating all students. One specific digital tool, Assistive Technology, benefits everyone, because it provides equal access to all that want to learn, including learners who require additional resources to assist with their learning. Another digital tool is the use of Google digital slides. Google slides by Google can be designed with video, audio, and graphics in order to reach all learners styles. Digital Education offers flexibility to both Teachers and Students regarding when, where, how to teach and learn.

The assigned task was to redesign a lesson plan incorporating instructional design models, and to add digital tools. Lesson planning is a daunting task made easier using Commonsense.org, the nation’s leading nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of all kids and families by providing the trustworthy information, education, and independent voice they need to thrive in the 21st century” (Commonsenseeducation.org).

Most of the lesson plans I research only focused on one aspect of Digital Learning. In Redesigning the lesson plans Media Well being & Balance, Privacy & Security and Footprints & Identity taken from Commonsenseeducation.org, integrating the ( UDL) Universal Design for Learning, and 5E model of Instructional Design was a natural selection. By implementing UDL guidelines, which can be applied to “any discipline, so that all learners can access and participate in meaningful, challenging learning experiences” (Universal Design for learning, pptx (1) pdf) the lesson plan has been enhanced. With Universal Design for Learning students have access to multiple means of engagement, multiple means of representation and multiple means of action & expression. As an educator my job is to leave my students feeling enlightened. “The 5E Model of Instruction includes five phases: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate. “It provides a carefully planned sequence of instruction that places students at the center of learning”(google.com) The Lesson Plan Guidelines for Digital Learning is now ready to benefit all students.
