Guidelines for an Outstanding Digital Footprint

I have created guidelines for having an outstanding digital footprint. This can be used with grades 5-8. I will display the infographic on the Activpanel after we have worked through the grade specific Common Sense Media lessons for digital citizenship.

As a class, we will discuss the guidelines and how it applies to our own lives. The guidelines are listed below.

 It is important to:

  1. I will stop and think before posting online.
  2. I will think before sharing and not overshare.
  3. I will check my privacy settings.
  4. I will look myself up online
  5. I will use strong and secure passwords.
  6. I will be an Upstander not a Cyberbully.

This will be a formative assessment activity that is designed to be conducted within the classroom. However, it can easily be completed in breakout rooms if learning is remote. The students can work collaboratively on Google Slides, Docs Drawings, Jamboards, etc to plan and create their artifact.. The students will review the tips for having an outstanding digital footprint. After we have completed a variety of lessons about digital citizenship, they will work with a group to create their own artifacts to demonstrate their knowledge of the subject. The students can create presentations, videos, comic strips, drawings, etc PSAs. This will be a summative assessment. The groups will have a lot of freedom to create their artifacts and UDL will be embedded within the project.
