This graph was created through Canva because of all the available features. It is intended for a 2nd grade ENL classroom. The idea behind this graph is to show to the 2nd graders through words and pictures the guidelines for engaging in digital learning. In the beginning of the year, we will engage in a conversation regarding the benefits of using digital learning as another avenue for completing assignments. After this, the infographic will be placed by the laptop’s cart as a reminder of their role as digital learners. Because this particular group of learners are limited to the internet usage they are capable of doing, the guidelines are very simple. I have considered that kind of digital learning they are able to engage with. Below I will provide a brief description of each point on the infographic.
Guideline 1- digital footprint:
Be mindful when using any device for searching or posting. Computers remember what you search and definitely what you post. Once something is put on the internet, it is hard to take back.
Guideline 2- digital privacy:
Be mindful of your privacy and that of others. You are expected to keep your own eyes and ideas on your own work; specially when completing online assessments. They are also expected to keep their passwords to themselves in a safe place.
Guideline 3- digital citizenship:
Be mindful that using digital means is a privilege. Therefore you are expected to be honest about staying on task and carefully completing assignments. You are expected to use the correct apps when they are assigned to you. Using a different app, especially one that was not assigned, is dishonest.
Guideline 4- digital responsibility:
You are responsible for taking care of your device and ensuring that it is ready for use. Things like keeping it clean and charged will help you be ready to work. Part of this includes paying attention to procedures and algorithms for logging in to certain apps; as well as remembering your own password.
Guideline 5- netiquette:
Be mindful of appropriate language whether written or oral. Think about your words before you say/write them. Remember, others can see what you say/post.
Guideline 6- homeschool-connection:
There will be times when laptops will be taken home. The guidelines above remain in effect. Whether you are at home or in school learning digitally, you are still expected to be responsible, honest, hardworking and respectful to yourself, your device and your online peers.
